Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

When you visit severe-auto.com, we may collect basic usage data such as pages visited, browser type, and referring URLs through standard analytics tools. If you make a purchase through our merch store, your payment and shipping information is processed by our payment provider and is not stored on our servers.

We do not require account creation to browse the main site. If you join the Severe Warning Alert List, we store your email to send occasional updates; every Alert List email includes an unsubscribe link. If you create a Support portal account (support.severe-auto.com), we store your email, display name, and ticket correspondence to provide support. If you contact us via social media, we retain that correspondence to respond to your inquiry.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Operate and improve the website
  • Fulfill merchandise orders
  • Respond to questions and support requests
  • Send Alert List updates you opted into (you can unsubscribe anytime)
  • Understand how visitors use the site so we can make it better

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.

3. Vehicle Savant & VINs

If you use Vehicle Savant, you may enter a VIN for decode via NHTSA vPIC. We do not store the plaintext VIN. After decode, only a salted hash may be kept on an anonymous session cookie so we can associate vehicle context without retaining the VIN itself. Chat messages are scrubbed for VINs and other obvious PII before logging. Sessions expire (idle and absolute TTL). Marketplace affiliate links may appear in answers; see our earnings disclaimer.

4. Cookies

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to analyze site traffic and improve your experience. If you accept analytics cookies, we may load Google Analytics (GA4) and GoDaddy Signals to understand visits and journeys. You can decline analytics cookies via our banner; Google Analytics will not load if you decline. We also record minimal first-party pageview beacons (anonymous session id, path, campaign tags) to power our own admin stats — these do not require Google Analytics consent. You can control cookie settings through your browser.

5. Affiliate Links

Some links on this site — particularly on the Tools & Parts page — are affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. We only link to products we actually use and recommend.

6. Third-Party Services

We use third-party services including YouTube, Instagram, and payment processors. These services have their own privacy policies and we encourage you to review them. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party sites linked from our content.

7. Data Security

We take reasonable precautions to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of any information you transmit to us.

8. Children's Privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. Your Privacy Rights (GDPR & California)

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information we hold about you, and to opt out of certain sharing under California law. Severe Auto is a brand of Domus Solis LLC (Eden Prairie, MN). Details and how to submit a request are on our Privacy Rights page. All privacy requests should be directed to support.localhost:3000.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

11. Contact
